Addition to the Kostelic family. As the Croatian magazine “Story” reports, former world-class skier Janica Kostelic (41) becomes a mother for the second time.
The magazine learned from confidential sources that Kostelic is already in his second trimester. She is currently on holiday on the Croatian islands of Brac and Vis with her partner and son Oscar (4).
Kostelic celebrated numerous successes during her career. She has won 30 World Championship races and is one of only seven riders to have won at least one race in each of five separate disciplines (slalom, giant slalom, downhill, super-G and combined).
The four-time Olympic champion (slalom, giant slalom and combined 2002, combined 2006) and five-time world champion (slalom and combined 2003, downhill, slalom and combined 2005) is the first Croatian athlete to medal at the Winter Olympics. She also won the overall World Cup three times (2000/01, 2002/03 and 2005/06) and won seven minor crystal balls (three times slalom and four times combination).
However, her career was not only marked by successes, but also by pain and injuries. Circulatory problems, back pain and ten knee surgeries are just a few of her thick medical records.
In 2007, at the age of just 25, Kostelic put an end to her career. “I’m afraid of more injuries. If I continue now, the torment will start again. I don’t want to suffer anymore,” she said at a press conference at the time. The time of suffering is definitely over. 16 years after her retirement, Kostelic is looking forward to her second child.
