The Silverstone king and eternal dismissal: Hamilton laughs: ‘It may take a while’

Eight wins: Lewis Hamilton is the undisputed king of Silverstone.

Anyone who speculates whether Sir Lewis Hamilton (38) will retire at the end of the season is wrong. “I certainly won’t give up until we catch up with Red Bull! And that can take a while!”

The seven-time world champion has not won in 32 races. He will celebrate his 103rd and final GP triumph to date on December 5, 2021 in Saudi Arabia. At the time, he won ahead of Max Verstappen and Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas (now at Alfa-Sauber).

Waiting for 104th GP victory

Will Hamilton take the 104th victory in the 320th race in the Mercedes at Silverstone on Sunday? It would be a thrill, because the bulls are hard to beat this year.

Therefore, Silverstone is the “birthplace” of three Formula 1 drivers

But if Hamilton comes to the English classic, no one needs to motivate him. His record beats almost everything: 17 races (16x British GP, 1x 70th Anniversary GP), 8 wins, 13 podiums, 7 pole positions, 10 front rows! Lewis: “I don’t want to disappoint my fans this year either!”

312 England points

On Sunday alone, 145,000 spectators are expected at the tenth round of the World Cup (live TV from 4 p.m. CET). Verstappen’s “Orange Army” didn’t stand a chance against Silverstone.

For the past 15 years, only King Lewis has reigned at Silverstone (first Silverstone win in 2008) with a total of 312 points (18.4 average). And the Silver Arrows, like McLaren, Alpine and Alfa-Sauber, come with updates for the toughest race track for the tires. But the brakes can recover up to 5g in the Tempo Temple, there are only five hard braking points!

Mercedes: everything for Schumi

The red carpet is getting longer for Mercedes replacement Mick Schumacher (24). Now he was also allowed to test a two-year-old McLaren Mercedes in Portugal. Toto Wolff, the Mercedes boss, tries by all means to keep the German with the prominent name talking.

And where is Schumi junior 2024 on the wish list? Nowhere really, although Williams may need a pilot due to Sargeant’s lack of performance. And guess who the engine partner is there: yes, that’s right, it’s Mercedes!
