This Wednesday, Obradoiro will face the first opponent in the current phase of the Champions League

headquarters of FIBA will host the official draw ceremony for season eight Basketball Champions League. It will be this Wednesday starting at 11.30 am.

32 teams will compete. 29 of them have already directly qualified for the regular part of the season, which will be joined by three more teams after the qualification phase. BCL season 2023-2024. will begin on September 25 with the qualifying rounds.

For both the qualifying round and regular season draws, teams are divided into cups based on the BCL club standings, and for those yet to take part in the competition, based on each country’s standings.

The draw will begin with the qualifying rounds of the previous one. It will feature eight national champions from countries that are not yet represented in the regular season (group 1). Those eight teams are divided into two pots and will play the qualifying round of the quarterfinals. The winner of this tie will earn their place in the regular season.

The other two qualifying round tournaments (groups 2 and 3) divide the remaining 16 into four pots. Those from Bracket 3 will face those from Group 6, while those from Group 4 will face those from Group 5, in a quarter-final format. The two winners of these two qualifying round tournaments will enter the regular season draw with the country protected, meaning they cannot be drawn in the same group as another team from their country.

Obradoiro is in pot 5, so this Wednesday he will meet his first rival, which will be one of those in pot 4: FMP Soccerbet (Serbia), Heroes Den Bosch (Netherlands), Karhu Basket Kauhajoki (Finland) and Mornar Barsko Gold (Montenegro).
