The triathlete who fainted at the Ironman in As Pontes a week ago remains on IC

The Madrid triathlete who suffered a sudden fainting spell just a week ago, at the Northwest Triman ironman swimming race, in Lake As Pontes, continues to work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Marcide Architect Hospital in Ferrol. The athlete with the initials LAVG was evacuated by ambulance 061 to the center, where he remains eight days later.

So far, the reasons for what happened on Sunday, June 25, when this man from 49 years participated in the swimming test. He finished the first 1800 meters, of 3800 in this initial part of the ironman, so it does not seem likely that overexertion is the cause of the sudden health problem. It is also not known whether he suffered from any previous pathology.

Seeing that this ironman participant was floating in the waters of the lake, a member of the organization jumped into the water to help him. He took him to the shore, where he was exercised heart massage for more than twenty minutesuntil he was transferred to the Arquitecto Marcide hospital.
