Lucas Hernandez leaves Bayern after four years for Paris.

FC Bayern acquired Lucas Hernandez (27) in 2019 for around 80 million euros from Atlético Madrid, making him the most expensive player in the club’s history. Four years and 107 games later it is clear: the transfer was a misunderstanding. Hernandez was too fragile and too expensive. Now he moves to Paris St. Germain for 50 million.

The French central defender does not just leave a hole in his wallet in Munich. The move to Paris has a stale aftertaste. According to “Sport1”, Bayern bosses are disappointed in Hernandez and would have liked to see more gratitude and appreciation from the player.

Hernandez’s wrong game

Because when he tore his cruciate ligament at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Bayern always stood by him and would even have offered him a contract extension. But Hernandez and his advisor played for time. “The most important thing now is that Lucas really gets back to health,” his adviser Manuel Garcia Quilon said at the time. However, what Bayern did not know was that negotiations with PSG would have already taken place at that time.

“We don’t want mercenaries!”Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern

In an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”, the new Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen (55) spoke about the requirements for upcoming newcomers. He also couldn’t resist an excavation at Hernandez: “We don’t want mercenaries! We need players who radiate energy, who are committed to FC Bayern and its fans.”

Since the departure of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, the initiator of Hernandez’s transfer in 2019, Bayern has quickly come to terms with the Frenchman’s departure and has already found a successor. Kim Min-Jae (26) comes over from the Italian champion Napoli to Säbener Strasse for 50 million euros. The South Korean would even have scrapped Manchester United for the Munich team and stands as a mentality monster for the new Bayern path: 100 percent the club in heart and soul. (byl)
