American chess player Hans Niemann failed in court.

Grandmaster Hans Niemann (20) initially failed in his lawsuit against chess superstar Magnus Carlsen (32). A federal judge in the court of competent jurisdiction in Missouri has rejected the American’s claim for damages of $100 million — nearly CHF 90 million — against Carlsen and others, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Niemann had sued Carlsen and his company Play Magnus Group, the online platform “chess.com” and other players. The chess youth accused the accused of forming an alliance to destroy his reputation and his livelihood. The allegations of fraud ruined his career and life.

Last September, the Norwegian first made concrete allegations of fraud against Niemann public, after he had previously ended a duel against Niemann after just one move in a first-class online tournament without comment. As a result, Niemann was banned from numerous matches. (SDA)
