The ZSC Lions have signed Swedish attacker Jesper Frödén to a two-year contract. The 28-year-old comes over from the Seattle Kraken NHL organization to Zurich.
He played 15 games for Seattle last season, most of which he played in the AHL with the Coachella Valley Firebirds farm team, for whom he recorded 30 goals and 27 assists in 59 games. In 2021, Frödén was part of Sweden’s World Cup squad and sparked a Swiss gossip, scoring twice in Sweden’s 7-0 win. He is the Lions’ second signing after Yannick Zehnder.
“Jesper is a very agile winger with good speed and distinctive scoring qualities,” said ZSC sports director Sven Leuenberger. “As a right-handed shooter, he will be valuable for our power play. He can also play box play and is therefore very versatile.” (SDA/dti)
