The history of Racing de Ferrol was forged by hundreds and hundreds of football players who for almost 104 years defended the colors of the football club, which was also the brand of the city. Many have left their skin for this team, in many cases anonymous heroes, names that have been lost in time and that no one remembers anymore, except when they are honored with a minute of silence in Racing matches.

The three real names of Racing, PazoloPablo Rey and Joselu once again shone their own light in the port of Ferrol yesterday afternoon, where the Morandeira racinguista fan club paid them a warm tribute for being the top three goalscorers in Racing history.

It was a nice, family event in which not only the awardees participated, but also many children who are part of the Racing Youth Academy. Carlos Morandeira thanked the Port Authority and Racing for accepting his idea to pay tribute to the three goalscorers in Racing’s history, Joselo, Pablo Rey and “Pazol”. He indicated that they had been thinking about this tribute for a long time, but that they had not been able to carry it out: “It is an act that we do with a lot of feeling and humility, and which we have been postponing lately. years, but we always wanted to do that. Now, after this brilliant season in the league and with Joselu’s retirement, we believe the time has come to pay a more than deserved tribute to these three great scorers in the history of Racing.”

Carlos Morandeira presented a trophy to each of the shooters and a photo when they were active.

Members of the Diablos Verdes collective took part in the event, who presented the three players with a facsimile reproduction, i.e. completely identical to the original, of Racing’s t-shirt with the Alcampa advertisement. A beautiful shirt that was appreciated by the players.

Joselu talked about the union

Pazolo, Pablo Rey and Joselu were not alone in this act, they were accompanied by many players from the current team, people from home, such as Diego Rivas, Fernando Pumaro, Pep Caballé, Luis Chacón or Luca Ferrone. Joselu, who took the floor, spoke about everyone staying united in the next campaign. “The first is to thank you all for so many signs of affection,” Joselu said, “and as for the credit for scoring so many goals, it’s only because you’ve endured so many years at this club. We’ve always given everything for this club and for the city , for his people who we have always respected. I think these kids who are here with us today are the future of the club and these are things they have to learn.”

He added: “We achieved promotion through the unification of all of Ferrol, through friendship, through the press, through people in the club, politicians and fans.” Unity between all was fundamental and is what we need to continue growing. And represent Ferrol for Spain forward with this union.

Pablo Rey thanked all the fans, said he was excited to see so many friends’ faces: “Super beautiful moments come to mind. I congratulate the players on the promotion they achieved, I have never seen a city like this, everyone wears Racing jerseys, not other teams. I think the promotion is a reward for all the people in Racing. I recommend people to enjoy this moment, to play in Segunda, to travel in this category and rivals.”
