The Swiss in the goal

Amir Saipi (22): FC Lugano. Has the advantage that he already guarded the goal during the European Championship qualifiers – which is why he is number 1 in the tournament.

Marvin Keller (20): YB. Many experts classify him as stronger than Saipi. However, due to a lack of competition training, he is number 2.

Nicholas Ammeter (22): Wil. After Keller’s departure to YB, he has been Wil’s regular keeper since the winter. And just missed promotion to the Super League with the East Swiss.

The players on defense

Marco Burch (22): Lucerne. Has been holding the FCL defense together for over two years. Should form the center of defense at the U21 European Championship together with Stergiou. After that, a foreign transfer will be in the room.

Becir Omeragic (21): Montpellier. Unlike many teammates, he knows what will happen after the European Championship: the Geneva native signed a long-term contract in Montpellier. Often makes the right back in the U21’s.

Leonidas Stergiou (21): Sankt Gallen. Despite his young age, he already felt like a household name at FC St. Gallen. Have been aiming for an overseas transfer for a long time – is he using the EM podium for a lucrative bid?

Nicolas Vouilloz (22): Napkins. At the EM for the defense center and left back. The new Servette trainer René Weiler has a high opinion of him.

Aurèle Amenda (19): YB. Took YB centre-back Captain Fabian Lustenberger up the hierarchy in the spring. Considered a huge talent with Akanji installations.

Serge Muller (22): Schaffhausen. Solid performance at FCS and hoping for a transfer this summer. But he will probably not be able to show himself at the European Championship – he is seen as a substitute.

Jan Kronig (22): Aarau. Trained at YB, he has been defending at Brügglifeld for two years. Meet Alex Frei there soon if he doesn’t change. Scheduled as a replacement in the EM, along with the other two Challenge League professionals Serge Müller and Nicholas Ammeter.

Lewin Blum (21): Young. It’s hard to imagine the YB defense without it. Not even from the U21: at the European Championship he will probably imitate the left back as a right-footed player.

Swiss midfield

Ardon Jashari (20): Lucerne. Has already sniffed A-Nati air as one of eight EM drivers. Is placed in midfield and wants to use the tournament as a springboard for international transfers.

Simon Sohm (22): Parma. Moved from FCZ to Italy in the middle of the corona pandemic. Acts off the radar, but involves a lot physically and playfully. After not being promoted at Parma, he is also aiming for a move to a top class.

Gabriel Bares (22): Montpellier. His trainers say about him: “If only he knew how good he is…” When the Lausanne native mentally takes the plunge, nothing stands in the way of a luxurious career abroad.

Kastriot Imeri (22): YB. The YB record transfer (almost four million francs) has everything it takes to decide matches for itself. If he calls up his full potential at the European Championship, he should end up in the notebooks of big clubs.

Fabian Rieder (21): YB. The signature in the Bundesliga is imminent. But even if it were to take a little longer: Rieder is not deterred by the change vortex and, according to his own statement, is “hugely interested” in the U21 European Championship.

Darian Men (22): Inter Milan. Was top scorer at FC Basel despite less playing time than the regulars. He wants to borrow him from Inter again, and Males can also envision another FCB season. However, if he performs at the European Championship, there will be much bigger doors open for him.

Matteo Di Giusto (22): Winterthur. Had a big part in helping the promoted Super League team stay in the league, although it stagnated towards the end of the season. At the European Championships he will barely get beyond the prankster role.

Bledian Krasniqi (21): FCZ. Caused a stir last season with the Swallow of the Year against FCB, which caused a huge stir in the Joggeli. In the U21s, Jashari’s “victims” come from the A-Team for the European Championship.

The storm at the U21 European Championship

Dan Ndoye (22): Basel. Lightning fast and tricky, but with too few scoring points for a winger. U21 coach Framework already liked him when they were together at FCB, so it should be playing time at the European Championship.

Julian von Moos (22): Sankt Gallen. Not a contender for the starting eleven, but up front when it comes to the role of joker. Must break through in St. Gallen next season, he still wants to go abroad.

Zeki Amdouni (22): Basel. Zeki here, Zeki there: Shooting FCB to the semi-finals of the European Cup, the national team to their victories in the European Championship qualifiers – and the U21s? The greatest asset in the Swiss attack. If Amdouni also scores at the European Championship, the opportunities for growth will increase, for his club FCB the prospect of fat transfer income and for himself a signature with a top club.

Filip Stojilkovic (23): Darmstadt. You can’t have more confidence than him: promoted to the Bundesliga with Darmstadt and never afraid of challenges. Disgusting striker type for the opponents.

The trainer

Patrick Kader (54). U21 coach for a year – and gone again after the European Championship. It goes to FC Winterthur, partly because Frame enjoys the daily work on the field. And the job in the Super League must also become more financially attractive.
