Joel Wicki celebrates his fourth triumph over the Stoos: the king of the mountains

It is common practice at wrestling festivals for the guests to be treated harshly in the division and for the local wrestlers to enjoy some species protection. On the Stoos-Schwinget, the first major highlight of the season in a beautiful atmosphere and in front of a full house, the ranking caused some head shaking.

The starting position after fourth gear is great, a spectacle ahead. Joel Wicki, Armon Orlik, Matthias Aeschbacher, Christian Schuler, Mike Müllestein and the young up-and-coming Noe van Messel top the rankings.

But instead of assigning Joel Wicki the convincing Armon Orlik in the fifth course or organizing the revenge for the last course of the Confederates von Pratteln with Matthias Aeschbacher, the king Marcel Räbsamen is served.

Aeschbacher and Orlik are thus deprived of the chance to finish. With Mike Müllestein, someone from Central Switzerland uses the favor of the local patriotic one-piece suits. And takes advantage of the judges, who turn a blind eye and judge his attack on Domenic Schneider as a flat throw.

The mountains are Wicki’s territory

The central Swiss have what they want: two of them in the final course. After a moment of shock, Wicki also solves this task in royal style. At Schwyzer Kantonal he has not yet found a recipe against the experienced garbage stone, but with the mountain air he achieves the sixth victory in the sixth battle. “The mountains are my territory. I just feel good there, “says Wicki, who is already celebrating his fourth win at the Kranzfest this season. The central Swiss gets eight of the thirteen crowns and can thus forget last year’s defeat (two crowns).

Shaking your head over the classification is one thing, Wicki’s sovereignty is another. He has now completed agricultural school and can focus more clearly on the sport. Although that is almost impossible with the Entlebuch power bolt, Wicki seems even stronger and more athletic than in the previous season.

Stucki’s successor has his empire under control

“The winter training has paid off. I just need to make sure I can maintain the weight until the peak of the season. Last week I took a break. But before that I did four festivals in thirteen days. It’s already off the content,” says the Entlebucher.

With Christian Stucki, a king has abdicated. With Joel Wicki, his successor has his empire under control. In an early form that is almost frightening. “I always go full throttle. Nothing else works for me at all,” he says.
