Racing will have to come home

Author: lof

The Ferrolans missed clean goal actions, while they failed in defense, conceding three goals between the end of the first and the beginning of the second half.

Racing lost 3-0 to Amorebieta in the first leg of the Champions League play-off, played in the Basque Country. The Ferrolans will have to return home, next Saturday, if they want their first RFEF title. In the first game, Racing fumbled in defense, conceding goals in jumps and shots, while in attack it was missing, that is, it found Marin. Three goals were scored in five minutes, between the end of the first and the beginning of the second half.

Amorebieta played according to the planned scenario, with a lot of pressure on the opponent, stolen balls, opening on the wings and crosses into the penalty area, where the powerful striker Prader dealt with all of them. They also went to bid on other plays. Racing, without Héber in the field, looked for Carlos Vicente and it was maño who played Racing’s first attacking opportunity after a good run in which they beat several Basque defenders, although they shot high. The game was open, with chances for both teams. Ewan Urain scared Racing in the fourteenth minute of the game, sending the ball into the net, although the referee did not give a goal, considering that he was previously offside.

Racing used quick transitions to get to the top and create danger. In one such action, David del Pozo had a rebound on the edge of the penalty area, although he shot wide. Aitor Pascual, on a good rise, also had another very clear chance, although his shot went just over the edge of the post.

Both teams had chances, although they did not hit the goal frame. In the last part of the first half, another good cross from Carlos Vicente was not used by Manel Martínez, who tried to finish, although he could not get to the ball.

two mistakes

Just before the break, after a mistake by Brais Martínez, Julen Jon Guerrero had a good shot that Diego Rivas responded with a good save, although his deflected shot fell into the hands of Unai Buján, who sent the ball into the box unopposed.

On the last play of the first half, a free kick from the front that hung in the box allowed Pradera to finish the ball in the goal, making it 2-0. Neither Tomás Bourdal nor David Castro managed to kick the ball.

Racing started the second half without the necessary concentration, and in the first attack of Amorebieta, a lateral cross reached Ewan Urain, who alone sent the ball into the box at the far post. In the 51st minute, Ewan Urain could have scored the fourth, if David Castro had not been successful in deflecting the ball.

Carlos Vicente, Ferrol’s most outstanding player, managed to reduce the deficit in the 54th minute, although his shot, which slipped into the top corner, was cleared by the home goalkeeper. Two minutes later, after Aitor Pascual’s shot, Marino saves Amorebieta again.

Racing had possession and got to the top, albeit without a shot. In the 64th minute, Cristóbal introduced Héber, Jorge Padilla and Jon García, instead of Jardí, Manelo and Tomás Bourdal. David del Pozo had a good shot from outside the penalty area, but once again Marino saved his team. The Ferrolans were clear dominators of the game against their opponents with trade, who defended in turn.

Racing deserved a goal, but it didn’t come. Now it will be time to return home.
