Supporters of the Covid law form a yes committee

Federal President Alain Berset is in favor of the Covid law, which will continue to allow the issuance of certificates for travel, for example.

For a long time it seemed that the parties were not particularly interested in committing to the Covid law, which Switzerland will vote on June 18. Now the supporters of the template have finally come together and formed a committee, as the “Nzz am Sonntag” reports.

“It’s not the most explosive template,” Hess said when asked about the Keystone-SDA news agency. That is why it took a while before a yes committee came together. “But one should not simply rely on the fact that a yes to the Covid law will be a guaranteed success,” Hess continued. Although all parties, with the exception of the SVP, support the law, it is important to set a good example with a yes committee.

Modest commitment

The Yes Committee won’t mess with the big trowel, though. The resources of the parties are heavily used in the election year, Hess continues. The yes campaign will therefore be limited to a media conference and a social media campaign. According to Hess, the priorities of the constituency lie with other templates.

The Yes Committee has a wide range of parties. In addition to Hess, the Uri State Councilor Josef Dittli is involved in the FDP, the Zug National Councilor Manuela Weichelt for the Greens and the Zurich National Councilor Jörg Mäder for the GLP. Basel National Councilor Sarah Wyss is on board from the ranks of the SP.

The opponents of the Covid law have been active for some time. The committee, made up of Mass-voll, Friends of the Constitution, EDU, Helvethica Ticino and Mouvement Fédératif Romand, has announced an “intensive campaign”. The SVP is also in favor of a no. (SDA/h)
