The SVP former federal councilor Christoph Blocher (82) would not elect Daniel Jositsch (57) to the Federal Council. In his own talk show “TeleBlocher” he spoke about the replacement of SP Energy Minister Simonetta Sommaruga (62) and her successor.
And not many kind words were spoken about the SP Council of States in Zurich, which this week announced its interest in a seat in government.
The former federal councilor said it had been known for 20 years that Jositsch definitely wanted to become a federal councilor. Therefore, according to the SVP father, Jositsch always behaves opportunistically. He gave no examples. This behavior in itself is not objectionable. But there are already middle-class people who fall for his ‘opportunism’, says Blocher.
Rather a “true social democrat”
He prefers a “true social democrat who gets to the point” over an opportunist, continues Blocher in his show. Because with an opportunist, you don’t know how he’ll act as a federal councilor.
However, he does not specify which of the SP he would rather see in government.
Blocher also shows a surprising amount of understanding for the social democrats’ women’s ticket. Since the SP campaigns to allow women to sit in seats, they must also do so consistently in the Bundesrat, “otherwise they are not credible”, Blocher judged the proposal of the SP party leadership.
At the same time, he showed no sympathy for Jositsch’s complaints about the exclusion of men from Sommaruga’s successor. “If someone wants to be on the ticket and doesn’t get it, they will be discriminated against, but you don’t have to take that seriously,” said the SVP father.
SP child would be “a difficulty”
In principle, he does not advocate consistent promotion of women. According to Blocher, the requirement for women to be represented on all committees goes hand in hand with “a devaluation” of women.
His daughter Magdalena Martullo-Blocher (53) found her way into politics without any special support for women. He would find it problematic if one of his children became a member of the SP, he says. “That would be a difficulty.”
But that is certainly not the case, his daughter is firmly entrenched in the SVP and is being treated as a future SVP Federal Councilor.
But what would Christoph Blocher have done in theory if one of his four children had played with affiliation with the Social Democrats, he is asked on the talk show. He could have “lived with it,” as he says. But he is said to have asked his child, “Do you want to do such a stupid thing?” (you)
