Six months after the publication of the University of Zurich study on abuses in the Swiss Catholic Church, more than 160 additional alleged victims have come forward to dioceses and victim support centers.
The diocese of Basel published current figures on Tuesday. Since September 2023, the diocese has received 92 reports. In other dioceses, the publication of the pilot study did not lead to such a large number of reports, as the Keystone-SDA news agency learned upon request.
In total, four dioceses reported nearly 70 victims. The Diocese of Lugano, which will announce the figures on Wednesday, is missing.
The Swiss Bishops’ Conference (SBK) itself has not included any reports because it is not a reporting point. However, she announced national centers for each national language – a project currently underway.
The Evangelical Reformed Church in Switzerland does not keep statistics on abuse cases. However, she is currently preparing a preliminary study. (SDA)
