In the canton of Zurich, the people decide on four proposals. The SVP’s anti-chaotic initiative demands that those responsible for unauthorized demonstrations pay for damage and police operations. There is a counter-proposal with a similar rule.

In the canton of Basel-Stadt, a successor is being sought for the new SP federal councilor Beat Jans (59), who was district president before his election. The SP wants to defend its seat with former state councilor Mustafa Atici (54). He missed re-election to the national parliament in October. But the SP seat is even under attack from the left. In addition to the canton of Basel, elections are also held in other cantons. Two seats will become available in the canton of St. Gallen. In the canton of Uri, an all-male body currently governs – three candidates from the center, FDP and GLP want to change that. During the election campaign, a strong wind blew in the canton of Schwyz.
