Protection against natural hazards: The Federal Council requests 2.207 billion francs for environmental protection

The federal government and the cantons are jointly responsible for protecting the environment and protecting people from natural hazards, according to a press release from the department of Environment Minister Albert Rösti (56). That is why the Federal Council wants to spend more than two billion francs between 2025 and 2028.

• R32 million will be spent on wildlife and hunting
• The forest will receive 451 million francs
• 153 million francs is available for protection against natural disasters
• 384 million francs must be spent on nature and landscape
• The highest amount is intended for flood protection: 481 million francs.
• In terms of revitalization, that is 146 million francs
• 102 million francs is available for noise protection
• 450 million francs should be provided for waste water treatment plants
• 8 million francs is available for the remediation of the residual water.

In so-called program agreements, the federal government negotiates with the cantons for four years about objectives in individual environmental areas. To realize these projects, the cantons subsequently received federal funding. (SDA/brother)
