In total, around 10.5 million vignettes have been sold in recent years, the BAZG told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Wednesday upon request. Half of the vignettes in a vintage are sold from December to early February. The rest is spread over the year, with vehicles registered abroad purchasing a vignette later.

The e-vignette was introduced on August 1 last year. A total of 250,000 e-vignettes will be issued by 2023, the report said. If the share of analog sticker vignettes is less than ten percent of all vignettes sold, they will be abolished in accordance with the National Road Tax Act (Article 19a) and offered exclusively digitally.

From Thursday, motorists will need the vignette for 2024. This is valid until January 31, 2025.
