Three quarters of all vehicles are passenger cars, the Federal Statistical Office (BFS) announced on Thursday. Compared to last year, their inventory increased by 39,600 units or 0.8 percent to approximately 4,760,800 vehicles.

The share of purely electric cars among passenger cars will increase from 2.3 percent to 3.3 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year, and that of hybrid vehicles from 6.0 percent to 7.6 percent. Gasoline passenger cars still make up over 60 percent of vehicles and the share of diesel cars is 26.9 percent.

According to the BFS, this involves a preliminary assessment of the vehicle population from the end of September. (SDA)
