The war in Ukraine has made it clear how important such early detection is. “But balanced skills are important,” Krauer said in an interview with Tamedia published on Saturday. “Rush data collection alone is of no use. Ultimately, we must be able to process and distribute the information we collect in a targeted manner.” Artificial intelligence (AI) could help with this, but experienced analysts are still needed to classify the results.
Most MND employees have an academic background, Krauer said. Many of them have a master’s degree in political science, computer science, law or natural sciences. “We have about 15 percent women in our team. In addition to cleverness, you need creativity. The MND should not be confused with the Federal Civil Intelligence Service (NDB). The MND does not compete with this, says Krauer. “Instead, we exchange ideas and complement each other.
