He had to take the Jass cards with him again: FDP national councilor Marcel Dobler.

A rude awakening early this morning for St. Gallen FDP councilor Marcel Dobler (43). The politician is participating in the election campaign and wanted to hand out Jass cards and flyers at the Rapperswil SG train station. But the National Council apparently did the math without the SBB railway police.

“I wanted to hand out Jass cards and flyers at the Rapperswil train station at six o’clock sharp this morning and less than five minutes later I was chased to hell by employees of the SBB railway police,” says Dobler Blick.

And further: “Despite the Federal Court’s decision, I was denied the right to campaign here. That is why I think it is beyond all reasonableness that the railway police intervened,” said the National Councilor.

Train stations are considered public spaces

In fact, according to the Federal Court, train stations are considered public spaces. The reason for this was a ruling by the highest court in July 2012, in which the SBB lost a legal dispute against the Allgemeine Poster Society (APG). In fact, no permission is required for election campaigns. The SBB confirmed to Marcel Dobler that the handling was incorrect, he told Blick.

Dobler complains that he has been denied his civil rights. At his home station in Rapperswil! “Where I am at home, I am chased away. It would have been my last planned election campaign before the elections.” He had to take the Jass cards home.

The SBB did not respond to a telephone contact. A request has been submitted.
