Marco Rima (62) wants to serve in the Council of States for the canton of Zug. After a discussion on the TV channel Tele 1, he abruptly left the show after the recording without recording a second trailer. “This is all really getting on my nerves. The show was anything but controversial.”

The day after, Marco Rima explains his anger: “I was interrupted several times during the broadcast and could not get my point across. That irritated me.”

During the conversation with Manuela Weichelt (56), state councilor of the Green Party and Matthias Michel (60), state councilor of the FDP, he had less to say than the others. “That’s fine with me, they are established politicians. But I would have been happy to have received answers to my two questions for the candidates.”

“I am a candidate for the Council of States and I want to be treated that way.”

Rima is referring to a scene in which he discussed climate change with FDP State Councilor Michel and the moderator interrupted him. “Matthias Michel has been a politician for years, he can answer for himself,” says Rima.

The moderator was also ill-prepared. It was also ‘disrespectful’ that he once interrupted Rima with ‘You are the comedian, but I am the moderator.’ “I am a candidate for the Council of States and I want to be treated that way,” Rima told Blick. In fact, a moderator in such a live broadcast has multiple tasks and must ensure that the discussion is conducted in a balanced manner.

Rima is also annoyed that the television channel published the recordings in the first place. “This all happened after the actual broadcast was over. The fact that the scenes are used is a major disrespect. I don’t know if that’s legal.”

No grudges against the other candidates

However, he holds no grudge against the other two candidates. “We drove back to Zug together, then had a drink together and had a good conversation.”

He has never walked away from a program in forty years. “In this specific case, after the show it was only about the presenter’s performance, which I criticized. I left after the show.” Despite the outrage in the media: “I have nothing to blame myself for.” (brother/representative)
