In recent weeks, one cyber attack followed another. A pro-Russian hacker group shut down the website of parliament for days, targeting websites of municipalities, airports and other companies. Shortly before, cybercriminals had stolen data from the Aargau Migration Office and the Federal Police Office via a company in Bern.
The attacks came as no surprise to the Federal Intelligence Service (NDB). Next to armed conflict and war, cybercrime remains “the most immediate threat to critical infrastructure,” the agency stated a year ago in its “Security Switzerland” status report. And warned that not only private companies, but also authorities were insufficiently armed against such attacks.
Today the Secret Service releases its latest security report. In addition to cyber attacks, this year he will also discuss the dangers posed by extremism, terrorism and espionage.
