Following the incident over Baar ZG on June 15, 2023, Patrouille Suisse is gradually resuming flight operations, as announced by the Federal Government.

It starts with a first flight on Friday afternoon from Emmen LU military airport. This was after the responsible experts released Patrouille Suisse’s F-5 Tiger aircraft for flight operations. An exception to this are the two aircraft that were damaged in the incident.

Safety comes first

The first flight will take place in the high-altitude training room of the Air Force and has been agreed with the military justice. The two aircraft damaged in the accident must remain on the ground for the time being.

The gradual resumption of flight operations will take place after the examining magistrate, the Military Aviation Authority and the Air Force Commander, after hearing the technical expert, have released Patrouille Suisse’s F-5 Tiger aircraft for flight operations.

Investigations are underway

It is currently unclear when the Patrouille Suisse will start flying demonstrations again. The investigations of the military justice are still ongoing.

As Patrouille Suisse announced on its Twitter channel on Friday, the planned air shows at the cantonal wrestling festival in Tramelan BE and at the 175th anniversary of the officers’ association in Langenthal BE have been canceled next weekend. In addition, the incident is also being investigated internally in order to deduce any consequences, according to the company.
