“Unlimited” cinema for a subscription of 15.90 euros per month or 149 euros per year

Cinesa activates its flat rate with Luis Tosaro and Aura Garrido as sponsors

Cinesa offers a trip to the cinema unlimited in their standard rooms for a nominal monthly fee of €15.90 – or for an annual fee of €149, which reduces the amount to €12.40 per month. If it is about its deluxe rooms, the amount rises to 18.90 euros (189, per year). The film exhibition company presented the launch of the first operating plan of the movie subscription in Spain, which will be phased. It is currently available from this Wednesday in ten cinemas in the communities of Madrid and Catalonia. The implementation will be progressive in the rest of the country and must be completed — in 37 cinemas, with 450 screens — in the rest of the month, according to the details of Ramón Biarnés, general director of the group, and Toni Illa, commercial manager.

Both spoke about the initiative accompanied by actors Luis Tosaro and Aura Garrido, who sponsored the project on which the Odeon Cinemas group — in which Cinesa is integrated and whose global parent is AMC Theaters, the world leader — is already working, with similar formulas, in Germany, since 2015, and the United Kingdom, since 2016. “And it works fantastically,” emphasized Illa, “but not all viewers go to the model, it is a supplement and a catalyst for attendance.”

As Efe reminds, the subscription is strictly nominal and non-transferable — that is, it can only be used by one person — but there is no limit to the number of sessions a subscriber can attend. “There is no cheating or carding in the Unlimited card – insisted Biarnés – if you want to go to the morning, afternoon and night session, you can do it.”

Biarnés – who explained that they were previously unable to apply this flat rate due to “technical constraints” they had already resolved – said they spoke to distributors (with whom they negotiate each film’s profit margins) before starting the off-program. “We’re absolutely confident that this will help bring people back to theaters, where you really have to see the movies,” he said.

Luis Tosar reminded that in its history, cinematography has always fought battles and faced bad omens, but eventually overcame them. “The experience of watching movies can be compared to few others, it is collective and individual at the same time, something impossible to achieve in the living room at home”. Aura Garrido praised the project, which can favor “lesser” films that fall out of the preferences in the position of choice. Now you won’t have to choose anymore, you will be able to see them all – celebrated the actress.

When Biarnés was asked about other measures taken in the US, such as changing the price of movie tickets depending on the movie or location in the cinema, he ruled out their implementation for now.

The flat-rate subscription must be made on the website cinesa.es/unlimited/informacion/ and implies a mandatory three-month stay if you decide to pay monthly. The only requirement is to be over 18, have a credit/debit card and authorize the payment. The subscriber can attend performances in a standard room; for the rest, you will pay surcharges between 1 (for 3D) and 4 euros (seat in Dbox) separately and per session.
