Tension in a title fight? A foreign word in the Super League for years to come! The last exciting title race was in the 2013/14 season, when FCB “just” won the title in the penultimate round in a long-range duel with GC.
Since then, gaping boredom has reigned in the most important decision of the championship. The Red-Blues ruled until 2017, then the YBs for four years, and when the title moved for the first time since 2009 last season, FCZ was still the champion with four games to go.
This season, the fans should be prepared for the fact that the decision will be made even earlier. After 3-1 against Basel, YB is already the champion of the winter after 14 match days. This title may not be worth anything, but who should seriously challenge the yellow-blacks next year?
Although playfully convincing only on stages, YB doesn’t have to be afraid of the competition. She is on her way. Basel? Immature and already 14 points behind YB. St. Gallen? No wins in seven games. Lucerne? Will have to reinvent myself after the lead next week. FKZ? In winter, it will probably stay at the bottom of the table. Servette? Although they are the only team to still have visual contact with rank 1, the Genevan team cannot be trusted more than playing the role of YB’s sparring partner.
