Miraflores, Tower of Babel

The common denominator of tourism success is respect for the visitor. After all, they, the tourists, are paying for an experience they consider unique during their chapter in the Isthmus. And among all available options, the most attractive the visit to the Panama Canal continues.

Our authorities fail completely when it comes to weaving the Dantean shell into which the Miraflores visitor center has become, like the opening and closing of the curtains of a tragedy that fatefully ignores the opinion of visitors as a fundamental element in the operation of the theater of tourism. It’s something like a Broadway play where professional criticism falls on deaf ears simply because Radio City Music Hall was and always will be the darling of the Big Apple.

This is simply being done here because those who decide are violating the basic principle of that basic rule of “roaming management”, because they are not going around and sniffing the works of their actions often enough. For example, a successful airport manager must, at the beginning of each assignment, coordinate a walk along and across the airfield to smell, check, feel every detail of the shelter entrusted to you, instead of isolating yourself in the cooled offices, you figure out how to make the passenger’s experience as bad as possible: “after all, they are only here for a few hours.”

Anne Williams, The lively cruiser, originally from Jacksonville, Florida, after his fifth crossing, angrily tells us: “What happened to the Miraflores visitor center? It was a diamond in the rough (“showcases1”) and the pride of the channel. It seems to be caught in the cobwebs of the COVID-19 epidemic. We arrived this morning along with 5 buses of our cruise, total chaos, excellent description of the tower of babel There is a noticeable lack of organization, it seems that they are only interested in charging for something that does not deserve to be charged.

In total, there were about 400 of us from 2 cruisers parked in Amador. We were like sardines in a can, punished due to the incompetence of the dwarves in charge of his work. People were angry.

When was the last time our new canal minister visited Miraflores? What about the members of the Board of Directors of the Channel, appointed by the decision of the president, who seem to be more interested in collecting fees for sterile meetings? What does our Minister of Tourism tell us?

Due to lack of space, we do not expose the dangerous details exchange with Mrs. Williams, inviting the curious reader to get closer and make sure that it is not just any Karen, a menopausal gringo, but a seasoned traveler who takes the time to tell her ordeal, because she feels love for what Panama was.

Of course, if polls existed, as they do each of the products that Amazon sells, another rooster would crow, in unison, in order to correct the aberration of the most important place of tourism on the Isthmus.
