The simple world of Ems boss: “SundaysBlick publication is politically motivated”

SonntagsBlick has published a series of articles about working conditions at Ems-Chemie. Last week their boss launched a counterattack. In a note to staff, Magdalena Martullo-Blocher wrote: “The publication is politically motivated.”

This is not the first time that the Blocher family, best known for its involvement in SVP, has responded to complaints about their business activities with such a defensive reflex. Is there any form of criticism that Martullo-Blocher would not describe as “politically motivated”?

“We would like to remind you of our confidentiality obligations”

One thing is clear: if conditions at the Hinz and Kunz site in Hintertupfingen were the same as in Ems, SonntagsBlick would not be reporting as much. If employees of Emmi, Migros, Nestlé, Victorinox or Rivella complained about similar phenomena and provided evidence of this, we would investigate this too. Complete independence from the party agenda of the relevant corporate leadership.

But it was the Ems employees who contacted SonntagsBlick. Of course, not for political reasons. Some. Independently from each other. This fact speaks for itself. In Switzerland, employees have to make a lot of effort to force themselves to take such a step. Martullo-Blocher would do well to take these requests for help seriously and improve the situation for her 2,700 employees.

This was and is the goal of our report.
