Panama: the urgency to choose wisely for a better future

Politics is a fundamental part of the life of any nation. In recent years, Panama has seen governments that, at best, can be described as disappointing. These periods left a lasting impression on the country, emphasizing the importance of electing competent and responsible leaders. Now, more than ever, with Panama on the brink, at a crossroads and at a point of no return, we cannot afford to risk making a mistake and elect another bad, ineffective government in a row, but we must be careful. and responsible in our decisions.

Experience has clearly shown us, with such bad and discouraging governments, that we cannot choose our leaders by leaving to chance the part they will play in making decisions affecting the nation. The need for a competent Government is more obvious than ever, and in this context, why risk it again when we have the opportunity to elect someone who has already held office and demonstrated the ability to manage?

On the other hand, it is important to recognize that no government is perfect. While it is true that any administration can make mistakes and face challenges, it is also crucial to emphasize that some governments have demonstrated a remarkable ability to address the needs of the country and promote the welfare of their citizens. Panama has had leaders in the past who have achieved significant progress in key areas such as the economy, education and infrastructure.

Choosing a leader who has already demonstrated his effectiveness does not mean that we ignore his mistakes. On the contrary, it means that, aware of his mistakes from the past, we will be more vigilant and attentive so that we don’t give him that second chance to make an even better government in vain.

The election of an ineffective government had serious consequences for the country. We cannot compromise the future of Panama by electing another flawed government. At this juncture, it is crucial to choose an experienced person who has demonstrated his ability to rule for the good of the nation.

It is imperative to remember that, apart from our political preferences, we cannot allow the current rulers, with many of their questionable actions, to attack our democracy by trying to disable their political opponents. This poses an obvious threat to the entire nation. Let us remember that our patriotic passion is not limited to party affiliation, but to commitment to greatness Panama.

Every tone of the national anthem, every flying flag and every shared smile are reminders that we are one nation united by an indestructible bond. Preserving our democracy is the responsibility of all Panamanians, which transcends individual political preferences. Elections must truly reflect the will of the people. The attack on democracy is an act that affects all Panamanians, and it is our duty, as citizens who are committed to our nation, to defend it. The choice must be in our hands, we must act responsibly and wisely, Panama deserves a better future, and it is our duty to choose it wisely.
