“I fell in love with Helen Fischer,” I wrote in a comment in “Blick am Abend” in March 2014, while studying at the Zurich University of the Arts, and this statement caused many smiles there. Today, almost ten years later, I regularly attend the Queen of Pop’s concerts. During her first performance at Zurich’s Hallenstadion on Tuesday, I heard someone say: “She’s popular now – the public still listens to the hits.” This is probably due to the fact that most Swiss people still associate the term “pop singer” with party affiliation and place Fischer in that box.

I dared to experiment: I took friends who were not particularly versed in the fine art of “fisherwoman” to one of her performances. And I was amazed by her level and the fact that she dances, offers artistic performances – and hits every note of her music, which is now reflected in pop music. “What she does is incredible,” was the main tenor of my backing band. She puts on a show that rivals global stars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. Tonight Helen Fischer gives her last concert at the Hallenstadion. And there, I am sure, many will realize: Fischer is not just a pop queen – she is the most successful singer in continental Europe. And he deserves it.
