Vilanova de Arousa, the birthplace of Ramón María del Valle Inclán, becomes a benchmark for theater lovers for the second year in a row thanks to Festivalle, a festival that takes place next week organized by the Association of Friends of Valle, a collaboration of the Xunta, the Council and the Ministry of Culture. Rafael Álvarez, el Brujo, repeats as a double-duty headliner. The first will be on Wednesday, July 12, with a performance Soul of Valle-Inclan, and on Thursday will offer the world premiere wonderful lamp, for whose performances there are no more tickets. He will not be the only heavyweight on the Spanish scene to pass through the hall in Vilanova. Days before, on Monday the 10th, Pedro Casablanca will perform with a monologue Don Ramón María del Valle-Inclán (through Ramón Gómez de la Serna). On Tuesday, the representative house Morfeo Teatro will take over the baton Don Friola’s Horns.
Tickets for the Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday shows are available at the Valle-Inclán Museum (O Cuadrante) and at ataquilla.com.
The week will end with two free performances that require advance invitation and can be withdrawn from the same website. The session on Friday will be in charge of the High School of Dramatic Art of Galicia, which will represent Head of the Baptist – adaptation Baptist’s head- and on Saturday it is the turn of the children’s audience with a performance dragon head, by the company El Callejón del Gato.
Siro and summer course
But Festivalle does not live only from the theater. Until July 16, you can visit the old church of A Pastoriza Siro saw Valle-Inclan, an exhibition of 50 pictures in which the caricaturist reflects on the work of the creator of the grotesque. A summer course will be held this week that will deal with various aspects of Valle’s work, and guided tours of Vilanova will be organized from Tuesday to Friday.

All the details of the festival were discussed this Thursday in Vilanova at a ceremony attended by Culture Minister Román Rodríguez. The Galician government highlights Festivalle’s ability to bring Valle-Inclán’s work to a new audience, “ao pace that is consolidated as one of the two reference cultural events that can be seen in Galicia»Rodriguez celebrated. «The fact that it is a monographic festival helps to further project the work of Valle-Inclán, as well as the great artistic quality of the proposal“, he added.
For his part, the artistic director of Festivalle, José Luis Méndez Romeu, emphasized the excellence of the program and his firm commitment to the dissemination and study of the author’s work divine words. “Festivalle is a commitment to the culture and preservation of the legacy of one of the great authors of Spanish literature,” he insisted during the presentation ceremony.
