The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office (California, USA) confirmed on Tuesday that the human remains found by hikers in the Mount Baldy desert on June 24 were from British actor Julian Sands.
In a statement published on social networks, the authorities explained that the process of identifying the body has been completed, but that the causes of his death are still being investigated and that “the results of several tests are awaited”. Sands went missing on January 13 after hiking alone in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains, about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Los Angeles. They searched for the actor with drones and helicopters, because the danger of avalanches and the dangerous conditions of the track hindered the search on land, according to Efe.
Authorities announced on June 24 that hikers notified them they had found human remains on Mount Baldy and that the body had been transported to the coroner’s office for analysis. According to media reports, the 65-year-old actor’s family expressed their gratitude to the authorities in a statement that remembered Sands as ” great father, husband and researcher», as well as a lover of nature and art.
