Italian intellectual Nuccio Ordine in file Author: GRANTED
Italian philosopher and teacher Nuccio Ordineone of the leading experts on the Renaissance and the work of the astronomer, theologian and thinker Giordano Bruno, who was awarded the Princess of Asturias Prize for Communication and Humanities in May 2023, died today at the age of 64 in Cosenza, in the Calabria region (southern Italy ), where he was a teacher.
The news of his death confirmed this the mayor of Consenza, Franz Carusowho expressed sadness over the disappearance of “one of the most cultural figures, in the broadest sense of the word, that Calabria and the entire country could include in its recent history”.
The Jury of the Princess of Asturias Award praised the figure of Ordine “for his defense of the humanities and his commitment to education and values rooted in the most universal European thought” when motivating the award, while praising his efforts for “conveying, especially to the youngest, that the importance of knowledge is found in to the learning process itself.
