Although the origin of the pieces is ceramics, they could also be seen in this material in 2020 at basis of saleswhere they have a permanent place and a very good relationship, a woman from Vigo would like to present them there solid version: «It can be reproduced. Molds are in Foundry Cuqui Piñeiro in Goián, where we made them, and the idea is to get several editions. I regret that the work, which for the moment could only be seen by my students at the workshop in Vigo, was not previously exhibited in Spain. It was made with great care, with so many filigrees, that each one is like a little jewel”, he describes. The author points out that although the creation of this last project is hers, she always signs her artistic creations with Aleksi.

Antía Sánchez’s relationship with Finland is already a long story that began 20 years ago, in 2003, when she was a fine arts student at the Pontevedra University and left with Erasmus scholarship to the country that claims to be the happiest in the world and Santa Claus home and Christmas tradition. Although the Vigo woman returned home after a formative period, the bonds forged on that ranch grew stronger over time. “I kept in touch with people from there, I did a few exhibitions, and in 2018, during an artist residency, I met Hannes and the creative relationship came from trying to spend more time together,” he admits. Included in land artsince forming the alliance, they have invoiced several projects, including two large sculptures, one of them in the garden of the National Museum of Finland and the other, which will be installed this month, a monument to the cultural movement known as Karelism, “like European romanticism, Scandinavian”, he explains.

In addition, he merges his business into his own house-workshop AlaSelva in the old part of the Navia settlement, with didactics in a very inclusive way. From Monday to Wednesday, he develops his projects, and on Thursday and Friday he devotes them intensively to teaching. “My students are in constant contact with the work I create and with my artistic experiences, there is an interesting transfer, it’s not just learning techniques,” he adds.
