In an interview with “NZZ am Sonntag”, Al-Aufi said that Oman is also interested in Swiss know-how in the use and transport of hydrogen. “This is why we are talking to Swiss research institutions. And then the financial center is important to us. Because usually it will not be Oman who is investing. But domestic and foreign private investors.”
According to the energy minister, his country has great potential for hydrogen production from wind and solar power. «We can use wind and solar energy in the same place in the south of Oman. Thanks to this combination, we are one of the three regions with the best conditions in the world. Few countries have similar advantages like Australia, Morocco, Chile and Namibia.”
