Total pay accounts for two-thirds of base salary and variable pay, and about one-third of retirement benefits and other wages, as can be seen in the annual report released Wednesday. The second component in particular was much higher in 2022 than in 2021.

The total personnel expense (parent company) for the part-time adjusted number of 5037 (PY 4,938) employees is given as CHF 1.12 billion (CHF 1.05 billion in the prior year). Of this, 547.3 million is base salary, 349.0 million is variable compensation, 188.2 million is social security premiums and 30.8 million is other personnel expenses. When disaggregated by number of employees, this results in a base salary of just under CHF109,000 and a good variable pay of CHF69,000 per person.
Last year, ZKB increased its profits by 12 percent to CHF 1.06 billion, breaking the billion mark for the first time.
