Coop eliminates extra prices for women

Women are hairy. Pink Tax is the technical term. Women pay much more to the hairdresser than men. Disposable razors for women are more expensive than men. Even in dry cleaning, women have to dig deeper into their pockets when they have their blouses washed. Although they are mostly smaller than men’s shirts.

Coop is now on the offensive. The main distributor eliminates this inequality with the Oecoplan textile cleaning service. There is no longer a price difference between men’s and women’s tops. It’s in the “Coop-Zeitung”.

“No more difference”

Specifically: CHF 6.30 now has to be paid for cleaning and hand-ironing a women’s blouse or top, instead of CHF 9.95 and CHF 6.95 for a T-shirt or polo shirt. Exactly the same as a folded men’s shirt.

“It is important for Coop that there is no difference between men’s and women’s clothing when it comes to dry cleaning prices. When asked by Blick, we’re simplifying the categories and now offer cleaning of all tops for women, men or children at a uniform price of CHF 6.30.

A men’s shirt 3.30 francs

With this equity in the wardrobe, Coop is pretty lonely right now. For example, the cleaning company Terlinden charges 8.80 francs for a freshly washed blouse, and the shirts are sold for 4.50 francs. At Texclean in Cham ZG it costs 6.50 francs to clean a women’s blouse and you only have to pay 3.30 francs for a new men’s shirt.

The price differences are also huge in Texsana. Hand ironed blouse is in the price list of 12.90. A hand-ironed men’s shirt costs only 7.90 francs.
