Gilbert Ghostine, CEO of Geneva-based aroma and fragrance manufacturer Firmenich since 2014, will become the new President of Sandoz. It is not yet clear when he will take over the post. According to the announcement, Sandoz’s board of directors will be formed after the split in the second half of 2023. It also needs final approval from the board of directors and shareholders.
Novartis said Ghostine is a seasoned leader with a proven track record of developing and transforming companies in highly competitive industries. He held senior positions at Firmenich and Diageo throughout his career. He is also currently a member of two boards of directors: Danone and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts.
However, he will soon step down from his position as CEO of Firmenich. The Geneva-based company announced last May that it had merged with Dutch chemical group DSM. CEO Ghostine was rumored to accompany the merger and then retire.
Just last week, Ghostine told the AWP news agency that Firmenich expects the merger to be completed in the next two months, in conjunction with the 2022/23 half-year figures.
