A total of 625,000 visitors were transferred to Jungfraujoch. This is much more than the previous year when only 365,000 guests arrived. But the numbers are still a long way from 2019, which was a record with over 1 million visitors.
The strong 71 percent increase in guest numbers was mainly driven by return visitor from various Asian markets and the USA. Guests from China were still missing.
In addition, the number of group flights is still well below pre-crisis levels, as there are not enough international flight connections. There are also very few beds in the Jungfrau region and uncertainties prevail due to the Ukrainian war.
The mountain rail operator is now pleased with the start of the 2022/23 winter season. As a result, skier visits from the start of the season to November 26 and December 31 totaled 162,200 visits, almost 16 percent below the previous year’s figure.
With more than 33,000 Top4 ski passes previously, around 3,000 fewer tickets were sold than in the 21/22 winter season. Jungfraubahn also attributes this to the price increase – the price of the ski pass has increased from 777 francs to 850 due to higher energy costs.
The company is hopeful for the future. The long-term strategy will pay off and the V-Bahn has great appeal. Towards the end of 2022, foreign market visits made us optimistic.
