Hakle toilet paper is still sold in stores, but unrest is spreading in the industry. The German toilet paper manufacturer, which filed for bankruptcy under self-management in September, initially wanted to offer a company savior before Christmas.
Apparently this will not happen, no investors in sight, writes the German industrial newspaper “Lebensmittel Zeitung”. According to their information, Hakle still has two bidders, initially there were two dozen interested parties.
A company spokesperson said that “negotiations in the investor process have been further advanced and will be conducted as quickly as possible and as fully as necessary, for the benefit of all concerned.” Still, the recovery continues. Rumors and speculation are on the rise. Hakle cited the massive increase in raw material and energy costs that led to bankruptcy under self-management.
Is there no savior in the end?
Under self-management, bankruptcy means: Hakle and its toilet paper brands and wet wipes will survive this time. Management remains in control. However, an external manager is on hand to help control costs.
But other companies in the industry, such as Hakle, also suffer from these energy and raw material costs. According to the “Lebensmittel Zeitung”, several insiders do not rule out that there will be no investors in the end.
Important for local consumers: Hakle reels are also on the shelves in this country. This will probably not change in the future. Because the well-known toilet paper brand in Switzerland has nothing to do with the company with the same name in Germany. (euro)
