You should go when you are most beautiful. Valentin Vogt (62) says the same thing. The Chairman of the Swiss Employers’ Association will resign at the end of June 2023. The industrialist has been the face of employers in Switzerland for twelve years. “As long as I enjoy the office, I will stop,” Vogt said in an interview with Blick.
He would be horrified if others decided to leave: “I’m a big fan of a professionally self-determined life.” But it also implies that such a job can be tiring. “As the head of the employer, you are active around the clock, albeit mentally. And seven days a week. The office never lets you go,” explains Vogt. It sounds almost like a Federal Councilor.
move something else
Vogt has a lot planned for the coming months: “I want to help make something happen with the European dossier and old age insurance reform.” Now the issue is that a second bill, which has a chance in front of the public, is passed by the Parliament.
As far as Europe is concerned, Vogt wants to work for Switzerland to define a negotiating mandate with the EU before the elections. “We must now take a step forward,” Vogt was convinced. The employer’s president is convinced of one more thing: “I always resigned after finding a very good successor.”
The newcomer comes from the insurance industry
This is already available to employers: Severin Moser (60) will take over from Vogt. A novelty: together with Moser, a representative of the service sector will become president for the first time in the history of the employers’ association. Moser has many years of experience in the insurance industry as a CEO and board member. Until the end of 2021, he was CEO of Allianz Versicherungen Schweiz and a board member of the Swiss Insurance Association.
After that, things will calm down around Valentin Vogt: “I will deal with projects that I have had to neglect in recent years.” He doesn’t explain exactly what his passion for mechanical engineer is, he just explains that he will be an active investor in the industry.
