Switzerland Tourism announced on Tuesday that in many places it will surpass even the successful 2022/2023 winter of last season. The early and heavy snowfall in November created a snow cover and created the right atmosphere as many places remained white for short periods of time, even in the plains.
It was stated that winter business slowed down for a short time in many places due to bad weather conditions in February and early March. At the end of the season, typical April weather in the lowlands and rainfall in the mountains made for a mixed Easter weekend. Drops in temperature at lower altitudes meant that off-piste offerings became very popular.
The winter season is traditionally worn by locals and European guests. According to the news of Switzerland Tourism, the number of people coming from the USA is also remarkable. Switzerland is a popular winter destination, especially among young Americans.
The results come from a review of the Swiss tourism industry, in which both ski areas and urban destinations were asked to evaluate last winter season. (SDA)
