An artificial intelligence (AI) developed by researchers in Geneva can learn a task based solely on written instructions. The artificial intelligence can also define this task to a “sibling AI” so that it can also perform this task. The University of Geneva announced on Monday that this is particularly promising for robotics. He spoke of a “cognitive masterpiece.”
“To our knowledge, for the first time, two artificial intelligences can talk to each other completely linguistically,” research leader Alexandre Pouget said in a statement. The Geneva researchers used an existing artificial neuron model that contains about 300 million neurons trained to understand language. They linked this to another model with several thousand neurons.
The system was able to solve tasks such as showing the brighter stimulus with a slight difference in contrast between two visual stimuli. “Once the network learns these tasks, it can identify them to a second network (a copy of the first) so it can replicate them,” Pouget said.
The University of Geneva said this opens new horizons for understanding the interaction between language and behavior. This development is particularly promising for robotics, where the development of machines that can communicate with each other is an important issue.
