St. “Farmers are very well connected to politics,” the Central National Council of St. Gallen said on SRF Radio’s “Samstagsrundschau” programme. It would not be understood if the farmers were to be more aggressive in their protests and obstruct other people, as in Belgium or France.
By now activists had realized that they had to win over a sympathetic public. Ritter mentioned climate labels as a negative example: Their increasingly aggressive methods have caused a lack of understanding and harmed their long-term goals.
Ritter admitted he was surprised by the protests. In the last 30-4 years, the grassroots, especially young farmers, have never seen such protest actions.
