There’s never been a better time to be an employee. The number of job openings is at an all-time high. Analysis of search queries on job portals shows that especially large and well-known Swiss companies have a high chance of quickly filling their vacancies.

Jobcloud analyzed last year’s search queries on the job portal Jobs.ch. And we’ve created a list of the most sought-after employers. “Traditionally, particularly well-known companies are represented in this ranking, which is characterized not only by their popularity but also by their diverse career opportunities,” says Jobcloud CEO Davide Villa (55).

Zurich Airport ahead of supermarket giants

In German-speaking Switzerland, Zurich Airport is number one, maintaining its top position from previous years. Right behind it is Migros, which has recently resorted to net cutting. At the beginning of the month the retailer announced it would cut up to 1,500 jobs as it looked to sell several specialty stores and Hotelplan.

The last place on the podium is taken by contestant Coop. Both supermarket heavyweights moved up one place compared to last year.

Roche takes his place right next to the podium. According to the statement made by Jobcloud, this fourth place is an indication of the great importance of the pharmaceutical sector in the Swiss labor market.

Two more retailers in the top 10

SBB lost money. They fell from second place to fifth place. Swiss Post managed to maintain its previous ranking. Two more retailers make the top 10 in 2023, with Aldi in 8th place and Lidl in 9th place.

Here is the ranking of the ten most searched Swiss companies:

one airport zurich
2 Migros
3 chicken coop
4 Roche
5 SBB
6 to mail
7 Security
8. Took
9 Lidl
10 Spitex

Conclusion: It is primarily the large and well-known Swiss companies that dominate the ranking. But: “Small and medium-sized companies also have appeal, as decision-making processes are often shorter and employees can achieve a lot,” says Villa.
