Ostentation and ostentation. Since the beginning of February, the auction house Aurena.at has been auctioning everything that is not specified at the headquarters of Signa Holding. More than 1,000 items from Vienna’s Palais Harrach have already gone under the hammer. Now the hot phase begins with the auction of the first floor. The first floor is the reputation area and flagship of Benko’s empire. It hosts the most eye-catching pieces.

In addition to designer furniture, various lamps, works of art and antiques, the clearing of office space also reveals some curiosities. The auction will continue until Friday morning. Here are the most expensive or curious items in Benko’s office:

Among the items listed is a smartphone wiretapping protection box. Mobile phones can be placed in this box to prevent parties from being eavesdropped during sensitive conversations. There are currently over 40 offers for the piece, the last one is 950 euros.

Another spectacular find on the first floor is the ten-foot-tall display case housing a scale model of the Chrysler Building in New York. The building is one of the most famous structures in Manhattan after the Empire State Building. The model at Signa headquarters is currently under pressure with 31 offers for 2,200 euros.

The auction catalog also includes the unfinished 30×25 centimeter model of the Signa project Hamburg Elbtower. Billionaire Klaus Michael Kühne is also involved in this project. Price point of the model from Signa headquarters: 1100 euros.

But these will not be the only exhibits at the centre: among other figures made of porcelain and ceramics, a golden rabbit figure stands out in particular. The rabbit lies on its back with its legs extended upwards. The Pols Potten statue is approximately 20 centimeters high and gold plated. The figure has a hidden slot on the back, making it a “savings bank”. Curious piggy bank’s current offer: 700 euros.

At the back of the founder’s approximately 100 square meter office, there is a large desk on an L-shaped stone plinth. The table top has a span of almost four metres. Bids for the table are already over 20,000 euros.

The fallen billionaire sat in the Poltrona Frau “Chancellor President” office chair, which cost just under 3,500 francs new. Bids for Benko’s chair have already reached 8,200 euros. His visitors were sitting across from him in the “Chancellor Visitor” chair, also branded as Poltrona Frau. Current offers are 700 euros each.

The obligatory cigar is a must for a luxurious office belonging to a newly rich real estate mogul. That’s why there’s a humidor in the Signa collection. This is a wooden box made specifically for storing cigars. Thanks to the integrated humidification system, a humidity level of 68 to 75 percent must be maintained inside this humidor, which is the ideal environment for storing cigars. The copy in Benko’s office is currently under the hammer for 950 euros.

There is also a big rush over little things. Whether it’s a toilet brush holder or a trash can, just about anything goes under the hammer. Also included: umbrellas, ballpoint pens and Signa-printed keychains. These objects are sold at lower prices, between 10 and 20 euros. A small sum to commemorate the once great empire of Benko.
