No slots for Rotterdam: Switzerland canceled planned flight without changing destination

Last October, Switzerland announced new flights to Rotterdam, Netherlands. It was scheduled to be released on January 22, 2024, but the launch date was later postponed to February 23.

However, according to the AWP agency, Switzerland is now giving up flights to Rotterdam altogether. Reason: Contrary to expectations regarding the 2024 summer flight schedule, Switzerland announced on Friday that no take-off and landing windows (so-called “slots”) were taken at Rotterdam Airport. This means that long-term planning is not currently possible. For this reason, we decided not to include the route in the program for a few weeks in the spring.

Switzerland wanted to invest in the destination in the long term and expand its flight offerings to the port city over time.

Switzerland now offers affected passengers a refund of the ticket price upon request. Otherwise, flights to Amsterdam will be rebooked. Switzerland will continue to serve the Dutch capital. There will be 31 flights per week to Amsterdam in the winter schedule, and 33 flights per week in the summer schedule as of March 31.
