The Swiss Builders Association SBV will file a lawsuit this week for violating its peace obligation in the canton of Geneva. There the unions openly called for a two-day strike.
The master builders association is coming to this conclusion after the sixth round of negotiations on the new government contract, the association said on Monday. Friday’s hearing did not resolve the differences between the unions and the builders association.
“Sending disturbing signals”
Unions said they would send “disturbing signals” with strikes as to whether they would be interested in a contract. The case aims to examine the extent to which the unions Unia, Syna and SIT violated their obligation to peace with their appeals.
According to the Unia union, more than 20,000 construction workers across the country called for strike action in mid-October. About 2,500 people demonstrated in Ticino a week ago. Unia accuses, among other things, of wanting to remove existing working time regulations in negotiations. (pbe/SDA)
