She has long hair and wears thick silver rings and a skull bracelet. Instead of a suit, he wore a stylish black cardigan wrapped around his shoulders. Anders Indset (45) doesn’t look like your typical WEF visitor. The media had already described the Norwegian-born man, who has lived in Germany for 20 years and speaks perfect German, as the “Digital Jesus”, “Rock’n’Roll Plato” or “straight out of The Lord of the Rings”. . .

Indset not only stands out visually at Davos, but also has no WEF-specific ideas. “Capitalism needs an upgrade,” says “one of the leading economic philosophers,” describing himself rather modestly at an event at Schatzalp in Davos. Indset has published several bestselling books. He is presenting his work called “Quantum Economy” to the guests in Davos.

In this book, he combines economic principles with concepts from quantum physics. Basic idea: In economics, as in quantum physics, different situations or realities should be able to exist simultaneously and interact with each other. “This takes us from an opportunistic economy to human capitalism,” Indset says. He throws around buzzwords in addition to those already mentioned, the keyword chaos theory also comes up, and he also talks about uncertainty or “lame duck capitalism.”

Charming former handball pro and pseudo-scientist?

Most of the guests probably did not quite understand the details of his theory in the flood of conversation. Indset also regularly faces criticism from scientists. His theory is “nonsense” and the connections he makes are “wrong”.

This doesn’t matter at all in Schatzalp. The former competitive athlete (Indset played for the Norway national handball team) has her guests on her toes with her undeniable charm.

There are freeloaders here

Notable: Many of the guests at this and other WEF side events do not have the coveted WEF badges. So you can’t even enter the convention center where the World Economic Forum is held. Instead, they spend time at networking events on the margins of the forum; they are repeatedly characterized as “free riders,” especially by WEF organizers, who have no control over the format and content of these events.

Advert

Indset itself is not on the official WEF exhibitor list. He still believes the journey was worth it for him. “Davos is a place where ideas and exchange meet,” he enthuses. Indset will publish its next book this year. If things go as usual, this will also be reflected in the order list. Bullshit or not.
