New development in Chlimberg on the edge of the village of Neftenbach in the canton of Zurich (archive image): House prices in Switzerland will likely continue to rise.

Consulting firm Fahrländer Partner Raumentwicklung (FPRE) assumes that house prices will continue to rise in the medium term. According to a study released on Friday, demand is still high and a major acceleration is not expected from the new construction sector in 2024.

Problems are expected in the upper segment due to already high prices and the reluctance of households, but it does not seem possible for prices to decrease here either.

When we look at the developments in 2023, we see that the prices of detached houses increased by an average of 3.8 percent throughout the year, and the prices of apartments increased by an average of 4.2 percent. In the fourth quarter, prices of detached houses decreased slightly by 0.2 percent compared to the previous quarter, while apartment prices were 0.9 percent higher. (SDA)
