In a statement on Wednesday, Glarus Cantonal Hospital justified the staff cuts with a “challenging situation” financially. “It’s really about defining the appropriate size for our hospital and consistently implementing the transition from inpatient to outpatient care,” executive chairman Arnold Bachmann said in the press release.
The long-term goal is for the share of personnel costs in total sales to equalize from today’s 67.9 percent to the Swiss average, which is currently 64.5 percent. However, it is emphasized in the communication that there will be no reduction in medical services or security of supply.
Glarus Cantonal Hospital expects a loss of 2.34 million francs for 2024. No other deficit is expected in 2025.
It’s not just Glarus Cantonal Hospital that’s making headlines, but also St. There are also plans to reduce more than 400 hospital positions in the Canton of St. Gallen. (SDA)
